Cardinal Tissue Rolls into Rutherford County

Rutherford County Economic Development (RCED) would like to announce that in January, Cardinal Tissue, LLC decided to open its new manufacturing facility in Spindale and Rutherford County.  Cardinal Tissue is a paper converter supplying product to large tissue companies.

The Rutherford County Commissioners and the Spindale Town Commissioners held a public hearing and approved a performance based incentive package requiring certain job and investment thresholds being met.  The company has committed to pay well above county average wages. It expects to begin operations immediately and anticipates creating at least 12 jobs.

Mr. Vince Reese, President of Cardinal Tissue spoke at the public hearing and explained his vision for the 125,000+ square foot facility located at 207 Oakland Road, which formerly housed Diamondback Tactical.

Rutherford County Board of Commissioners Chairman Bryan King stated, “The diversity of our economic base provides for a stronger local economy. This, and the higher wages announced by new and expanding industry, is beneficial to our entire community.

Spindale Mayor Mickey Bland said, “I am very pleased to see the Diamondback Tactical building being put back into service.  This is a very nice building and along with Manual Woodworkers, it is great to see jobs coming back into Spindale.”

Rutherford County Economic Development Chairman Mike Gavin indicated, “RCED strives to recruit and retain new and existing companies creating jobs in the community that pay above county average wages, such as Cardinal Tissue.”

Rutherford County has a population of 67,810 and is centrally located between Charlotte, NC, Asheville, NC and Greenville, SC. With a strong infrastructure system including roads, water, sewer and fiber, Rutherford County is well positioned for continued growth.
