The SBTDC helps established firms, high-growth companies, and start-up businesses meet today's challenges, manage change, and plan for the future. Our primary focus is on management counseling, and over 70,000 North Carolina business owners have sought SBTDC management counseling services since our inception in 1984.
We do this by providing confidential management counseling and educational services to small and mid-sized businesses in all of North Carolina's 100 counties. We have over 75 professionals in 17 offices across the state—each affiliated with a college or university—who are strongly committed to providing the highest quality advice and counseling to our growing number of clients.
Our management counseling services are well defined and are designed to meet a diverse range of client needs. Our primary focus is management counseling. In counseling sessions, we help clients address such issues as financing, marketing, human resources, operations, business planning, strategy, and feasibility assessment. In addition to our comprehensive general business counseling services, we offer specialized market development assistance in government procurement, international business development and exporting, boating industry services, and technology development and commercialization. These specialized services are specifically designed to aid growing companies in expanding their markets and increasing competitiveness.
