Everest Textile Co., Ltd is Weaving its Way to Rutherford County

For Immediate Release – December 6, 2016

Rutherfordton, NC – On December 6, 2016 Governor Pat McCrory and North Carolina Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla, III announced that Everest Textile Co., Ltd, headquartered in Tainan City, Taiwan, will open its first United States production factory in a 383,919 sq ft facility in Forest City. The Rutherford County location will handle weaving, dyeing and finishing operations, and is expected to result in a capital investment of $8,000,000 with the creation of 307 new jobs within its initial three years of operation. It is anticipated that within the first five years of operation the capital investment will be approximately $18.5 million and there will be 610 jobs created.
 
Founded in 1988, Everest Textile Co., Ltd is a textile manufacturer specializing in yarn spinning, twisting, weaving, dyeing, finishing, printing, coating, laminating and special finishing. Everest Textile Co., Ltd develops and supplies high value-added and innovative products to global leading brands in the sportswear, outdoor, city, casual and industrial materials markets. The Company is exceptionally environmentally conscious and implements the Everest SustainAbility Model (ESM) based on a 7R Discipline: Rethink, Redesign, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Recycle, and Recovery. The operation in Rutherford County will be the Company’s fourth production plant, joining the list of existing factories located in Taiwan, China and Thailand. Everest Textile Co., Ltd also has ten sales and marketing offices in major cities around the world and over 3,000 employees worldwide.

This project was made possible in part by a performance-based Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) awarded in the amount of just over $3,000,000. The Rutherford County Board of Commissioners as well as the Town of Forest City Board of Commissioners approved Local Industrial Development Incentive Grants to further assist with the project. The County and Town Grants will be based upon the Company’s net new investment and job creation, spread over three years. Carpenter Design Inc. which has been operating at 1331 West Main Street in Forest City for the past several years will be relocating to the former Broyhill Case Goods facility off Broyhill Road. This is the County’s third major industrial project announced in 2016, joining CMI Enterprises, Inc headquartered in Miami, FL and US Precision Construction, LLC, a member controlled company of Tryon Equestrian Partners, LLC.

The mission of Rutherford County Economic Development is to alleviate unemployment and underemployment within, and stimulate the economic development of Rutherford County and its several municipalities by fostering and promoting business and industry, developing commerce and trade, and inducing the location of manufacturing, assembly, and commercial enterprises in Rutherford County. Rutherford County has a population of 67,810 and is centrally located between Charlotte, NC, Asheville, NC and Greenville, SC. With a strong infrastructure system including roads, water, sewer and fiber, Rutherford County is well positioned for continued growth.
